Build Financial Models That Actually Make Sense

Most Excel courses teach you formulas. We teach you how financial analysts think. Learn to structure complex models the way institutional investors and top-tier consulting firms actually do it—not through templates, but by understanding the logic underneath.

The Way You'll Actually Learn

Here's the thing about financial modeling—it's not really about being good at spreadsheets. Anyone can learn functions. What matters is whether you can look at a business and figure out what drivers actually matter, how they connect, and which assumptions will hold up under scrutiny.

Our approach starts with business fundamentals first. You'll work through real company scenarios where the model structure isn't handed to you. Sometimes you'll need to make calls about revenue recognition timing. Other times you'll debate whether to model working capital at the line item level or use a simplified approach. These are the decisions that separate someone who can follow a template from someone who can build models that executives trust.

  • Case-based learning using actual company financials from Australian and international markets
  • Building from scratch instead of filling in pre-made templates
  • Understanding when complexity adds value versus when it just creates maintenance headaches
  • Learning to defend your assumptions and explain model mechanics to non-technical stakeholders

What the Program Actually Covers

Foundations (Weeks 1-4)

Income statement and balance sheet mechanics. Cash versus accrual concepts. Building integrated three-statement models where everything actually ties out. Working capital schedules that make sense for the business you're modeling.

Valuation Methods (Weeks 5-9)

DCF models with proper working capital treatment and realistic terminal value assumptions. Comparable company analysis that goes beyond superficial multiples. Precedent transaction adjustments and when they're meaningful versus when they're noise.

Advanced Structures (Weeks 10-14)

LBO models with proper debt schedules and cash sweep mechanics. Merger models including accretion/dilution analysis. Scenario planning and sensitivity tables that communicate risk effectively to decision-makers.

Real Application (Weeks 15-18)

Build a comprehensive model for a company in your chosen sector. Present your analysis and defend your assumptions. Learn to handle the questions you'll actually get in a board meeting or investment committee.

I'd been working in corporate finance for three years but always felt like I was just updating other people's models without really understanding the architecture. This program changed that completely. Now when I build a forecast, I know exactly why each section exists and how to explain it to our CFO. The confidence that comes from that understanding is something you can't get from YouTube tutorials.
